Log home inspections have a different scope than do normal home inspections. The added work requires a higher fee, but the extra time invested on our part helps our clients make much better decisions about the scope of repair work needed with the log home structures. The goal is to find out if the logs are rotted, and if so, to what extent. Replacement of rotted logs can be very costly and it is important to know before you make your purchase rather than after. Plan on investing another $100 to $300 over the inspection fee of a traditional home.
