I thought it was time to put my website skills to some redeeming use for the benefit of the ones I love dearest; my family. This should be an enjoyable investment of time and I plan on doing this with some great regularity, although on an irregular schedule. Content and ideas are welcome, and should be appropriate for the immediate family, extended family, and to all of our friends that either arrive to the “Leave It To The Leavitt’s Fun Times” by invitation, social network, or as a result of a Google search.
Please pass this link on to others in the family.
So let’s get this kicked off immediately with a great Leavitt family fun adventure.
FLOWRIDER - OGDEN, UTAH
Earlier this summer, Jessica & Dave (Our oldest daughter and son-in-law) called to invite us to make the 90 mile trek to Ogden, Utah to experience the Flowrider. Loving to surf, but being wave-locked here in Northern, Utah, the Flowrider sounded like a great alternative. It is typically much too cost prohibitive for family fun, so we took advantage of their Friday late night jam session that drops the entry fee from $30 for an hour down to just $5 for the hour.
Excited, we left with Mommy (Shelly) riding shotgun, while Aaron, Adam, and Adam’s good friend Andy Olsen filling up the back seat. Haily was at Girl’s Camp and missed the fun. When we arrived I was wondering if I would be able to endure the hour. Having seen this on TV and in videos, I could tell that the sure to happen falls would hurt. Maybe the younger generation could shed the pain easily, but my aging corpse (Yes, I felt like death for the following 2 days) was sure to feel the bumps and scrapes just as rigor mortis was to set in.
The following YouTube video of our hour of fun really says it all.
NARRATION - The rush of the water overwhelms the video, but enjoy the sporadic background commentary from Mommy (Shelly) and our oldest daughter Jessica. Shelly easily declined our invitation to join the fun and Jessica was about to burst with twins, so she also did not participate.
So how did I do? I had a blast. The learning curve would be much quicker without as big of a crowd waiting in line. I figured out how to steer and then barrel rolled both directions. Given more time, there would be far fewer catching of the downside edge that immediately wipes you out and send you up over the falls. If you ever get a chance to try it out, then by all means, do so!
Please take a moment to send us your thoughts and feedback... Have you ever been on a Flowrider? Have you got any good news to share? Bad news? How about a deep thought or riddle? C’mon, please take a moment to share?
That was awesome Dad. I am really excited to see these and contribute. Thank you so much. I love you! Adam Leavitt - Orem, Utah
It was awesome. If only there were more videos of me, but thank you so much it was really fun to remember the Flowrider. Aaron Leavitt - Orem, Utah
It s a bummer I missed out on this... Looks like a blast! (Literally) I must say, towards the end Adam had got some MAD skills! Haily Leavitt - Orem, UT
That was a fun night! Sorry for any bad video angles...it is not my forte! I will tell you it was like a sauna in there and it was hard to hang out there for the full hour!! But it was worth watching everyone have so much fun. I wish Haily could have gone...she would have had a great time. Shelly Leavitt - Orem, Utah
Michael,
I love your new idea for putting your website to good use. Our latest news is that Jim and I went to the Ibizan Hound National Specialty in St Louis a couple of weeks ago. The largest entry ever assembled in the breed were all competing for the coveted awarding of “Best of Breed” which was also “Best in Specialty Show”. With Jim handling our beautiful Ibizan Hound, Handsome won the highest honor of all after beating 96 Ibizan Hounds, including 40 of which who were champions. This was our first time to win the National. To say that we are excited is an understatement!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love to all from your sister. Susan Brown - Lebanon, OH
That does look like a lot of fun. Your nephew Clint has now decided that he would like to ride a bull. You see, you ride waves in Utah, we ride bulls in Ohio, lol. We have learned not to try and talk him out of it, but to embrace it and help him out. Also this Saturday night the boys will be riding sheep. So wish us luck! Can’t wait to hear of the next fun thing that your family decides to do together. Becky Brown - Wilmington , Ohio
