WILL I REALLY NEED THE POCKET REPORT WRITER? I use it on almost every inspection. The technology is convenient and perfect to capture the majority of your inspection data. I still use my HP iPaq 3715, but many inspectors have started using the smartphones (Check with 3D tech support for compatibility with smartphones). I think that you will love the little machines as much as I do.
WHICH POCKET PC DO I USE? I use a now discontinued HP iPaq 3715 that features a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera. The camera works well on the indoors and lousy on the indoors. While on the roof I can easily snap the photo of the chimney and quickly import it into the report with just 3 more clicks.
IS THE POCKET PC FOR EVERYBODY? No.... But I do believe that it is for most of you. If you have poor eyesight and cannot focus on a smaller Pocket PC then you need to consider a laptop or a pen driven Fujitsu ultra portable laptop running Windows. If you can view the smaller Pocket PC screen then I encourage you to try these little machines out.
IS THE POCKET PC TECHNOLOGY TOO NEW & EXPERIMENTAL? My first Pocket PC 3D inspection was in 1999 and operated on the Windows CE platform. That was a lot of years ago and while totally experimental then, 3D has perfected the newer Pocket PC platform and created a wonderful inspection tool in the process. And while other software firms are still trying to catch up, 3D was the first to create a power software to fulfill our inspection needs. |
